The USB Panther XL is a complete electronics conversion from Joystick Port Interface to Universal Serial Bus (USB) 2.0 Spec.  All internal circuits are replaced with custom made USB circuit boards.

ALL modded controllers of ALL versions also include the trackball modded into a USB optical trackball on own cord for trackball support in any game.  The store has options for the Microsoft Intellieye Optical mouse and the faster reading, more precision Logitech MX518 Mouse.  If you have a MX518 as donor it can be included with the controller and modded in at no extra charge.

The Panther XL USB by Steveo of Clan Assassin 3D is on it’s third major revision. 

Version 1

Version 1 of the USB Panther XL was made using a Mad Catz Panther DX USB joystick and transplanting the USB internals into the users Panther XL.  When the stock of new Panther DX’s ran out, the production of version 1’s stopped as well.

Version 2

Version 2 of the Panther XL USB used a stand alone USB Controller board designed for home arcade cabinets and reprogrammed for Panther XL use.  The Version 2 required the use of Keyboard Emulation software to be used in games with no joystick support.

Version 3

Version 3 is the latest version of the Panther XL USB.  The unit started production in August 2008 and is sold as the flagship unit.  The Version 3 Operates in two modes, Joystick mode where it works like the version 1/2 as a USB joystick or Keystick Mode where it outputs as a Hardware Keyboard for games with no joystick support.
